Gianni Castiglione named Pew Biomedical Scholar

The eyes of some bats may help Vanderbilt researcher Gianni Castiglione develop new ways to protect human sight. Castiglione, assistant professor of biological sciences in the College of Arts and Science and assistant professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences in the School of Medicine, has been named a Pew Biomedical Scholar. The award provides support to advance research that draws on evolutionary adaptations in animals to develop potential therapies for human disease. Read More

Southern Festival of Books announces initial lineup for 2026

Humanities Tennessee, in partnership with Vanderbilt University, announced the initial lineup of award-winning, bestselling authors who will headline the free 38th Annual Southern Festival of Books, taking place Oct. 17–18 at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall, the Tennessee State Museum and the Tennessee State Library and Archives. One of the oldest and largest literary events in the country, the festival will welcome thousands of attendees for panel sessions, discussions, book signings and readings. Read More
Vanderbilt Baseball Topping Out Ceremony on June 16, 2026 at Hawkins Field in Nashville, Tenn.
Members of the Vanderbilt community gathered at Hawkins Field on Tuesday, June 16, to celebrate the topping out of its new right-field structure. The addition will house private suites, premium seating, two new bars and a new player pitching lab for the stadium that opened in 2002. Click the photo above to read more.
