Vanderbilt to hold campus-wide Free Speech Week Oct. 10–17
 
Vanderbilt will hold a series of high-profile events Oct. 10–17 in observance of the university’s first-ever campus-wide Free Speech Week, part of Chancellor Daniel Diermeier’s recently launched Dialogue Vanderbilt initiative. The event will bring high-profile guests to campus to discuss the current state of free expression and civil discourse.

Student Affairs announces new leadership for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion area and Housing and Residential Experience
 
Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students G.L. Black has expanded the Student Affairs leadership team to support the addition of an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion area and to enhance the work of Housing and Residential Experience. Rosevelt Noble has been named associate dean of students for equity, diversity and inclusion, and Sophia Chaknis has joined Vanderbilt as the associate dean of students for housing and residential experience.

Vanderbilt will host screenings during Nashville Film Festival
 
Vanderbilt University is partnering with NashFilm to provide two of the festival’s venues, Rothschild Black Box Theater and Sarratt Cinema. Founded in 1969 as one of the first film festivals in the United States, the Nashville Film Festival will host its 54th festival Sept. 28–Oct. 4.

‘Florence Price: A Celebration,’ a multi-event music festival, will pay tribute to the life, music and enduring legacy of a woman who broke barriers of race and gender in classical music. Taking place Oct. 3–Nov. 14 at venues across Nashville, the series is produced by Blair’s Douglas Shadle, associate professor of musicology.
