Memorial Maniacs relaunching as the official student section of Vanderbilt basketball
 
The relaunch is part of the athletic department’s initiative to directly involve students in effecting the game day atmosphere at Memorial Gymnasium. Beginning next week, applications for the Memorial Maniacs Student Leadership Group will open. Leaders will work to help shape the student experience at Vanderbilt basketball games. Students can also vote for a new logo through Sept. 13; check your email for information on how to cast your vote.

Vanderbilt’s Open Dialogue Visiting Fellows program to bring diverse views, teach about how to engage in civil debate
 
The program is designed to host a cohort of thought leaders with competing and sometimes conflicting views on policy issues and social problems. These visitors will engage with students, faculty, the public and each other to model reasoned, evidence-based civil debate. The first public event sponsored by the program will be on Sept. 18 at 4 p.m.

Vanderbilt launches Center for Research on Inequality and Health to study causes and consequences of health-related inequalities
 
Supported by Discovery Vanderbilt and a collaboration between the College of Arts and Science and the School of Nursing, the center will deepen society’s understanding of the causes and consequences of health-related inequalities. An event marking the center’s launch will take place on Monday, Sept. 18.
