University engages security consultants as part of campus-wide review of emergency preparedness
 
Vanderbilt University has entered an agreement with security consulting firm AT-RISK International as part of a comprehensive review of the university’s emergency preparedness, particularly in response to an active shooter scenario.

The Vanderbilt Staff Mentorship Program helps employees connect and learn from each other. All eligible staff members can serve as a mentor, mentee or both. New and returning participants must submit applications by Sept. 27.

Reserve up to four free tickets to Employee Appreciation football game Sept. 30
 
Human Resources invites employees and their guests to attend the Vanderbilt vs. Missouri football game on Sept. 30. Tickets are free for university employees and their guests, but they must be reserved in advance and are first come, first served. Employees also will receive a free concessions voucher for each ticketed person in attendance at the game.

History of early Cherokee, Chickasaw students at Vanderbilt explored in library exhibit, upcoming talk
 
An exhibit currently on display at Vanderbilt’s Central Library explores the lesser-known history of some of the university’s earliest students. Cherokee and Chickasaw Students at Vanderbilt, 1885–1899 is the result of research led by Vanderbilt Law School professor Daniel Sharfstein. The project is supported by a Vanderbilt Sesquicentennial Grant.

VLE is designed to develop key leadership skills and competencies for staff members who serve in a leadership role or have an interest in pursuing one within the university. Sessions take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m on select Wednesdays from October 2023 through May 2024.

Registration closes TODAY for inaugural Commodore Cup, a campus-wide sustainability challenge hosted by the Wond’ry
 
The Wond’ry, in collaboration with Clearloop and the Division of Administration, will host the inaugural Commodore Cup design challenge this September, with $10,000 worth of cash prizes up for grabs. Open to all students, staff, faculty and alumni, this year’s theme is sustainability. Applications close on Sept. 1 at midnight.
