To that end, the university has launched a web portal called “You at VU,” a one-stop spot where students, staff, postdocs and faculty can find ways to connect with others, engage across campus, and discover well-being support and resources.

Registration open for inaugural Commodore Cup, a campus-wide sustainability challenge hosted by the Wond’ry
 
The Wond’ry, in collaboration with Clearloop and the Division of Administration, will host the inaugural Commodore Cup design challenge this September, with $10,000 worth of cash prizes up for grabs. Open to all students, staff, faculty and alumni, this year’s theme is Sustainability. Applications close on Sept. 1 at midnight.

Center for Teaching to host ‘Open Classroom’ Sept. 11–Oct. 6
 
For the first time since the interruption of COVID-19, the Center for Teaching will offer Open Classroom 2023. Between Sept. 11 through Oct. 6, classes taught across Vanderbilt’s many disciplines will open their classroom doors to faculty and graduate students to observe classroom management, pedagogical choices, teaching techniques and student engagement.

AlertVU test rescheduled for Sept. 7
 
Due to the recent tragedy at UNC-Chapel Hill, Vanderbilt made the decision to postpone Tuesday’s AlertVU test. Vanderbilt University Public Safety will now conduct a test of the AlertVU emergency notification system on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 2:30 p.m.

Applications for Vanderbilt-Fisk Postdoctoral Fellowship Program open Sept. 8
 
The Vanderbilt-Fisk Postdoctoral Fellowship has been designed to offer opportunities for Vanderbilt Ph.D.s to build their teaching and scholarship portfolios while simultaneously offering fellows the opportunity to receive dedicated mentoring from faculty at both institutions. The deadline to apply for 2023-24 fellowships is Oct. 18. The selected fellows will be announced on Nov. 1.
