Five Vanderbilt graduate students selected as 2023-2024 SEC Emerging Scholars
 
The fellowship program is intended to serve as a pathway and source of mentorship for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars across the Southeastern Conference to prepare them for tenured faculty positions.  This cohort of Vanderbilt scholars will attend the upcoming 2023-24 SEC Emerging Scholars conference Oct. 1–4 at the University of Arkansas.

Volunteers needed for Humphrey Fellows move-in Aug. 13
 
Volunteers are needed on Sunday, Aug. 13, to help with move-in for the 2023–24 cohort of Humphrey Fellows at Vanderbilt. The Humphrey Fellowship Program brings accomplished educational leaders from developing nations and emerging democracies to the U.S. for an academic year to study, gain related professional experience, build leadership capacity and foster mutual understanding.

University hosting national Dense Urban Terrain Exercise with U.S. Army, Metro Nashville Davidson County Aug. 9–10
 
The training exercises are designed to assess response readiness to a critical incident in a dense urban environment. University and medical center employees and guests should expect to see a large number of uniformed military personnel and Metro Nashville first responders in the area of 25th Avenue and Children’s Way during the two-day exercise.
