Dow, McLean assume new roles in College of Arts and Science dean’s office
 
Bonnie Dow will serve as vice dean of the College of Arts and Science for the 2023–24 academic year, and John McLean has been named dean of graduate education and research for Arts and Science after recently stepping down from his role as associate provost for graduate education in the Office of the Provost. Both began in their new roles on July 1.

Megan Saylor becomes chair of the department of psychology and human development
 
Saylor began her appointment on July 1. She replaces Bethany Rittle-Johnson, Anita S. and Antonio M. Gotto Professor of Child Development and professor of psychology and human development, who led the department as chair from January 2019 to June 2023.

College of Arts and Science to renovate Garland Hall as part of significant infrastructure improvement
 
The College of Arts and Science will embark on a construction project later this summer to renovate and expand Garland Hall. The project aims to align the college’s facilities with its mission of teaching, research and service; create flexible, state-of-the-art space that meets current and future academic needs; and connect the historic core of campus to the university’s trans-institutional mission.

Faculty invited to apply for 2023–24 SEC travel grants by July 21
 
Vanderbilt faculty are encouraged to submit applications to the 2023–24 Southeastern Conference Faculty Travel Program. The grants give faculty from Vanderbilt the opportunity to travel to other SEC campuses to exchange ideas, develop grant proposals and conduct research.
