Vanderbilt, Pepsi and Metro Nashville Parks and Recreation opens new community basketball court in North Nashville
 
On June 15, more than 300 families, neighbors and friends gathered to experience a vibrant addition to North Nashville. Vanderbilt University, alongside Pepsi, Hoopbus and Metro Nashville Parks and Recreation, unveiled a revamped outdoor basketball court at the “Hoops & Hope: Celebrating Black History and Community” event at Watkins Park Community Center. The mural on the court honors the legacy of Perry Wallace, BE’70, the Vanderbilt University student-athlete who integrated Southeastern Conference varsity basketball.

First cohort of Vanderbilt-Fisk Postdoctoral Fellowship Program announced
 
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs has announced the first cohort of the Vanderbilt-Fisk Postdoctoral Fellowship, designed to offer opportunities for recent Vanderbilt Ph.D. graduates to build their teaching and scholarship portfolios, receive mentoring from faculty at both institutions, and allow time for publishing from their dissertation or preparing other research papers.

Blair School of Music to host world-renowned Limón Dance Company for two-week residency
 
The two-week residency will take place June 20–July 1, and will include a free, open-to-the-public interactive outdoor movement class on June 23. Limón’s outdoor classes in New York’s Bryant Park have become very popular events, and they want to bring this same experience to Nashville – come ready to move!

Search launched for Ingram Scholars Program faculty director; applications sought
 
Provost C. Cybele Raver has announced a search for the faculty director of the Ingram Scholars Program. Applications for the position, which are due July 7, should include a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and an email approval to apply from the candidate’s chair and dean. The faculty director will be announced in August, will attend some Ingram Scholars Program events in the fall and begin serving in January 2024.

The Vanderbilt University community is invited to attend Juneteenth activities at the National Museum of African American Music from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, June 19. To celebrate the Juneteenth holiday, admission is free to all.
