MyVU to run Wednesdays, Fridays for faculty and staff this summer

MyVU has shifted its schedule for the summer to two days per week. Beginning the week of June 5, the newsletter will publish every Wednesday and Friday; the Monday edition will resume publication in August. During the summer, students receive MyVU on Fridays.

Vanderbilt Board of Trust names seven new members

The Vanderbilt University Board of Trust elected five new members on April 20 during its annual spring meeting. Lamar Alexander, BA’62; John Arnold, BA’96; Nina Kohler; Shaiza Rizavi, BS’91; and Jon Winkelried will serve five-year terms beginning July 1. In addition, Peter Marshall, BA’14, and Somto Okoye, BE’19, will begin two-year terms as a Young Alumni Trustee and a Young Alumni Leader, respectively.

Broadview housing project nearing completion; new leasing segments open

The Broadview at Vanderbilt residential community, the university’s first public-private partnership, is nearing completion. The building will open for resident move-in on July 10. The second retail business to occupy the space, 8th & Roast Coffee Co., also will open this summer.

Karl Zelik receives distinguished Goel Award for translational research in biomechanics

Karl Zelik, associate professor of mechanical and biomedical engineering and physical medicine and rehabilitation, is being recognized for his contributions to biomechanics with a Goel Award. The award recognizes accomplishments in translational biomechanics research, entrepreneurship and societal benefit.

Seven Vanderbilt student-athletes honored for academics

College Sports Communicators released its at-large academic all-district team, naming seven student-athletes from the Vanderbilt cross country and track and field programs. To be nominated for academic all-district honors, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of scheduled competitions, maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and hold at least sophomore standing academically and athletically.
