The Facilities Department is installing nine tents throughout campus for general use by the Vanderbilt community this fall. The tents are designed for individuals and groups to gather, share meals, conduct classes, socialize and more.

Asymptomatic testing program begins today
 
Beginning Monday, Aug. 23, individuals who are unvaccinated with an approved accommodation will be required to complete weekly asymptomatic COVID-19 testing at the university’s testing center. This decision comes as data shows that unvaccinated individuals are more likely to contract COVID-19 and that case counts are increasing in Nashville and surrounding communities.

COVID-19 antibody ‘cocktail’ discovered at VUMC protects chronically ill: study
 
A monoclonal antibody cocktail against the COVID-19 virus discovered at VUMC is the first non-vaccine modified to demonstrate the prevention of COVID-19 in a clinical trial of more than 5,000 participants. The antibody treatment could afford up to 12 months of protection from COVID-19, and preliminary laboratory findings also suggest that it can neutralize the delta variant.

The School of Engineering’s work in polar and climate science, as well as computational mechanics, will get international exposure with a two-year travel grant from the Royal Society, the independent academic society of the United Kingdom, for a collaboration between a Vanderbilt faculty member and a professor in England.

Vanderbilt Undergraduate Research Fair set for Sept. 30; student proposals now being accepted
 
The annual fall Vanderbilt Undergraduate Research Fair is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 30. A virtual fair will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. on Zoom, followed by an in-person event in the Student Life Center Commodore Ballroom from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Students who have completed research while an undergraduate at Vanderbilt are encouraged to apply.
