1.   Vanderbilt will no longer require indoor masking in line with newest CDC guidance
    Vanderbilt University will no longer require masking or physical distancing indoors. The change is effective immediately and aligns the university with recent CDC guidance that classifies Davidson County in the “medium” COVID-19 community level.   [ Read More ]
     
     
2.   Vanderbilt to participate in SEC Emerging Scholars Program
    Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs C. Cybele Raver has joined her peers at institutions within the Southeastern Conference to establish the SEC Emerging Scholars Program for doctoral and postdoctoral students. The program serves as a pathway and source of mentorship for historically underrepresented graduate students across the SEC to prepare for tenured faculty positions in higher education.  [ Read More ]
     
     
3.   WATCH: Experts discuss what’s next in the COVID-19 pandemic
    Some of Vanderbilt University’s leading experts on vaccines, infectious disease and public health came together for a special panel discussion on March 10 to talk about the future of the COVID-19 pandemic. 4.   Engine for Art, Democracy and Justice hosts panels on power of artistic activism

5.   Story Photo Portrait series honors contributions of six women pivotal to Vanderbilt
    Six women who have helped shape the university and its history are being honored as part of a new Women at Vanderbilt Portrait Project at the Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center. 6.   New photography exhibit at Divinity School documents life during COVID-19 pandemic
    The work of Nashville artists Joon Powell, Bill Steber, Dawn Majors and John Partipilo is featured in a new exhibit at Vanderbilt Divinity School titled “Nashville: A Pandemic Observed.” Students and community members will have the opportunity to attend a gallery talk featuring the artists and Vanderbilt scholars on Tuesday, March 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. [ Read More ]
     
     
7.   REGISTER: Author and advocate Cyntoia Brown Long, former Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam to discuss criminal justice reform
    For the first time since former Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam granted clemency to sex trafficking victim and convicted murderer Cyntoia Brown Long, the two will sit down together for an event at Vanderbilt University to discuss criminal justice reform. 8.   AlertVU full-scale test scheduled for March 15
    A full-scale test of the AlertVU system in scheduled for Tuesday, March 15, at 2 p.m. CT. AlertVU is used at Vanderbilt to alert all students, faculty and staff in the event of an emergency that poses an imminent threat or danger to the Vanderbilt community. [ Read More ]

10.   ‘Radiolab’ creator Jad Abumrad to speak March 18 as part of CSET mini-conference
    Jad Abumrad, creator and host of the “Radiolab” public radio program and podcast, will speak at the Student Life Center on Friday, March 18, as part of the Communication of Science and Technology program’s daylong mini-conference, “Improving Science Communication: The Promise of Science and Humanities Collaborations.” Abumrad’s talk, scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in Ballroom A, as well as the mini-conference are open to Vanderbilt University faculty, students and staff.
