Vanderbilt will celebrate the many contributions military veterans and service members bring to their roles at the university with several initiatives to mark Veterans Day 2022. Four virtual backgrounds are now available for download and use on Zoom to show users’ status as veterans or their support for veterans on campus.

‘Not for ourselves alone’: Bass Military Scholar guided by duty to serve
 
Service to others and high regard for education spurred Joseph Behrendt to join the military and attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he graduated as an infantry officer in 2014. Behrendt, now a Bass Military Scholar at Vanderbilt, is pursuing a master of education in higher education administration from Peabody College.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to the United States H.E. Mikko Hautala and former U.S. State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus will discuss themes of international politics, the war in Ukraine, the Finnish-Russian border and European security integration on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Vanderbilt.
