Bicentennial Oak, beloved campus landmark, has died
 
The Bicentennial Oak, the only tree on Vanderbilt’s campus known to predate the founding of the university, succumbed to age-related decay and fell Nov. 12. Estimated to be some 250 years old, the bur oak was one of the most recognizable trees on campus, serving as a landmark near Garland Hall for generations of Vanderbilt community members.

Wilson gift endows piano scholarship at Vanderbilt Blair School honoring Dean Emeritus Mark Wait
 
Blair Wilson, BA’74, whose family has deep ties to Vanderbilt University and its Blair School of Music, has endowed the Mark Wait Piano Scholarship to support students studying piano performance at the Blair School. The merit-based scholarship is named in honor of Dean Emeritus Mark Wait, who led Blair from 1993 to 2020.

AstraZeneca lead scientist visits to discuss Vanderbilt collaboration in COVID antibody Evusheld development
 
The Vanderbilt Vaccine Center will host a campus-wide presentation by Mark Esser, AstraZeneca vice president and head of microbial sciences, about Evusheld, an antibody combination that combats SARS-CoV-2 developed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The talk will be on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 10 a.m. in Light Hall, Room 202.
