Philippe Fauchet, the Bruce and Bridgitt Evans Dean of Engineering and professor of electrical engineering, will step down as dean on June 30 and rejoin the school’s faculty in 2024 after a sabbatical. Vanderbilt engineering professor Carlos Silvera Batista has won a National Science Foundation CAREER Award to understand the behavior of charged particles in the presence of simultaneous electric fields. That knowledge will be used to direct the assembly of particles into advanced reconfigurable materials.

Medical Center Drive will close to nonemergency traffic on Feb. 25
 
Incoming traffic from 21st Avenue onto Medical Center Drive will be limited to emergency vehicles only on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. by the installation of a crane for work at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Medical Center Drive will be closed in both directions.
