Register for ‘Unity Dinner: Race in America’ on March 23
 
The Vanderbilt Project on Unity and American Democracy is launching Unity Dinners, a new series that aims to bring students, faculty and staff together in community and conversation around society’s most pressing issues. “Unity Dinner: Race in America” will be held on Thursday, March 23, at 5:30 p.m. in Buttrick Hall, Room 123.

'Health and Wellness for Vandy Vets' program creates space for military veterans to focus on well-being
 
A series of workshops launching at Vanderbilt will focus on the health and wellness of the campus's military veterans. "Health and Wellness for Vandy Vets" will consist of five sessions; the first is March 16. Events will be at Faculty Commons, 1101 19th Ave. S., Room 210. They all are on Thursdays, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

AlertVU test scheduled for March 23
 
Vanderbilt University Office of Emergency Management will conduct a test of the AlertVU emergency notification system on Thursday, March 23, at 2:30 p.m. Before the test, it is recommended that all staff, faculty and students review and update their contact information to ensure AlertVU message delivery.

In partnership with Vanderbilt’s Department of English and MFA Program in Creative Writing, the Vanderbilt Project on Unity and American Democracy is soliciting poems from students currently enrolled in any Tennessee college or university. Students may submit a poem in the style of their choosing that explores what unity through American democracy means to them.

Law School Dean’s Lecture: ‘Where the Left and the Right Can Meet on Police Reform’ March 20
 
The next Law School Dean’s Lecture will be a dialogue between professor Barry Friedman of NYU Law and Vikrant Reddy, senior research fellow at Stand Together Trust (formerly the Charles Koch Foundation). The two will discuss a range of current issues in policing, including use of force, militarization, racial disparities, surveillance and traffic stops, as well as the broader issues that seem to divide us, but should not.

The Margaret Cuninggim Women’s Center is celebrating Women’s History Month by partnering with the Community Resource Center to collect period products for donation throughout Middle Tennessee. Collection bins have been placed across campus, and there will be a “packing party” March 31.
