School of Medicine announces five leadership promotions
 
Donald Brady, executive vice dean for academic affairs, has announced a number of leadership promotions within Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. These promotions recognize the outstanding contributions of VUSM leaders to the mission of the School of Medicine and provide an opportunity for the Office of Health Sciences Education to grow more efficient as Vanderbilt remains a national and international leader in health sciences education.

Mark Cuban to visit VUMC March 23; discussion to be livestreamed
 
Vanderbilt University Medical Center will host “A Discussion with Mark Cuban: How Cost Plus Drugs Is Innovating to Lower Prescription Drug Prices in America” on Thursday, March 23, at 12:15 p.m. at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Inagami, emeritus professor of biochemistry and cardiovascular research pioneer, has died
 
Tadashi Inagami, a professor emeritus of biochemistry at Vanderbilt who helped characterize the biochemical basis for hypertension, heart failure and vascular disease, died March 13 after a brief illness. He was 92.

The Vanderbilt Project on Unity and American Democracy is launching Unity Dinners, a new series that aims to bring students, faculty and staff together in community and conversation around society’s most pressing issues. “Unity Dinner: Race in America” will be held on Thursday, March 23, at 5:30 p.m. in Buttrick Hall, Room 123.

Law School Dean’s Lecture: ‘Where the Left and the Right Can Meet on Police Reform’ March 20
 
The next Law School Dean’s Lecture will be a dialogue between professor Barry Friedman of NYU Law and Vikrant Reddy, senior research fellow at Stand Together Trust (formerly the Charles Koch Foundation). The two will discuss a range of current issues in policing, including use of force, militarization, racial disparities, surveillance and traffic stops, as well as the broader issues that seem to divide us, but should not.
