Diermeier honors staff for ‘ingenuity, dedication and collaboration’ at first Spring Staff Assembly
 
Chancellor Daniel Diermeier held Vanderbilt University’s first Spring Staff Assembly on May 20 to share a state of the university address and present a new series of annual staff awards. Nearly 1,000 people attended the virtual event, which was streamed live from the Student Life Center.

Churchwell looking forward to transition, new challenges
 
Dr. André Churchwell has led VUMC’s diversity and inclusion efforts for the past 12 years and in 2020 was named Vanderbilt University’s vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion and chief diversity officer. Going forward, he will focus solely on his university role while continuing to see patients in his cardiology practice at Vanderbilt Heart. It’s a transition he says he’s looking forward to.

Vanderbilt faculty partner with Nashville arts group for a cosmic country western musical
 
With the help of a Vanderbilt Strong grant and Vanderbilt’s Curb Center for Art, Enterprise and Public Policy, two Vanderbilt University instructors came together to create a boisterous country western musical comedy. The play, “Sloppy Bonnie,” will run May 20–June 5 in the parking lot of Oz Arts Nashville.

Infrastructure, utility work begins in campus historic core near Kirkland, Neely and Benson
 
Starting Monday, May 17, work will begin in the “historic core” of campus adjacent to Kirkland Hall, Neely Auditorium and Benson Science Building.
