Wente and Chancellor Daniel Diermeier welcomed back the undergraduate Class of 2020 for a special in-person and virtual ceremony on May 1 at Vanderbilt Stadium, and graduate and professional students were honored with separate ceremonies held by their respective schools across campus on Sunday, May 2.

Vanderbilt’s prohibition of guns on campus will remain in effect following the passage of a new state law that allows for both open and concealed carrying of handguns for people 21 and older without a permit as well as for military members ages 18 to 20. The university prohibits anyone other than on-duty police officers from possessing firearms on campus.
