Legislative effectiveness scores are at the core of the research conducted at the Center for Effective Lawmaking, co-directed by Vanderbilt’s Alan Wiseman. Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Gary Peters, D-Mich., along with Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, and retired Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., were the most effective Republican and Democratic lawmakers in the recently completed 116th Congress, according to new research from the center.

Nominations are open for annual postdoc awards; deadline is Friday |

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Vanderbilt Postdoctoral Association will recognize VU and VUMC postdoctoral fellows who have demonstrated excellence in research, service, mentorship and a commitment to the postdoc community, as well as their mentors, with the annual postdoc awards. The deadline for faculty to submit nominations is Friday, March 19.

Nominate staff for new awards celebrating excellence |

A new series of annual awards will launch this spring to recognize the many contributions of university staff to the Vanderbilt mission. Recipients of the new awards celebrating staff excellence will be announced at the university’s first-ever Spring Staff Assembly, scheduled for May 20.
