Vanderbilt University announced today that it will host in-person Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2021. The events, which will adhere to campus safety protocols, will take place May 15–16.

Students in the Class of 2023 who still need to submit immersion plan proposals will find many events and resources designed to help them meet this goal. The Office of Immersion Resources has coordinated several events, workshops and informational sessions in the coming weeks to provide the help students need.

Joan Marie Johnson, an author who has written extensively about the history of women’s suffrage, feminism and social activism, will discuss “Race, Rights and the Woman Suffrage Movement: The Stories of Alva Vanderbilt Belmont, Irene Moorman and Rose Schneiderman” on Thursday, March 4, at 5:30 p.m. CT.

Christina D. Romer, the Class of 1957-Garff B. A virtual town hall-style discussion about identity, language and gender is scheduled for Monday, March 22, as part of Vanderbilt’s commemoration of Women’s History Month. The conversation about person-first versus identity-first language will be held from 11 a.m. to noon CT via Zoom.
