George Takei, an actor and social justice advocate who had a founding role in the original “Star Trek” television series, will speak at Vanderbilt Oct. 2 as part of the Chancellor’s Lecture Series. A record 200 undergraduate students shared their research projects through poster and slide presentations at the sixth annual Vanderbilt Undergraduate Research Fair held Sept. 19 in the Student Life Center. More than 580 faculty, students, staff and community members were in attendance.

Flulapalooza set for Wednesday
 
Vanderbilt University Medical Center will host its ninth annual mass influenza vaccination event on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Flulapalooza 2019 will be held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in a tent between Light Hall and the Veterans Administration Hospital. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to get a free flu shot during the event.
