George Takei, an actor and social justice advocate who had a founding role in the original “Star Trek” television series, will speak at Vanderbilt Oct. 2 as part of the Chancellor’s Lecture Series. Interim Chancellor and Provost Susan R. Wente will host the free event at 6:30 p.m. in Langford Auditorium.

Flulapalooza set for next Wednesday
 
Vanderbilt University Medical Center will host its ninth annual mass influenza vaccination event on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Flulapalooza 2019 will be held from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in a tent between Light Hall and the Veterans Administration Hospital. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to get a free flu shot during the event.
