The Chancellor Search Advisory Committee will conduct a listening session on Friday, Aug. 23, to gather feedback from faculty and answer questions about the search for Vanderbilt’s next leader. The event is scheduled from 12:10 to 1 p.m. in Sarratt Cinema.

New department launched to improve employee service delivery and community support
 
A new university department, Human Capital and Business Services, has been created to better serve employee support and development and the services that support all university divisions. The department, a merger of the functions previously supported by the former Human Resources and Business Services departments, will be led by Laura Nairon in the role of Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Capital and Business Services.

Mahadevan-Jansen elected to global photonics society’s presidential track
 
Anita Mahadevan-Jansen, Orrin H. Ingram Professor of Engineering and director of the Biophotonics Center at Vanderbilt University, has been elected to serve as the 2020 vice president of SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics. Mahadevan-Jansen will serve as president-elect in 2021 and as the society’s president in 2022.

Vanderbilt to enhance fan experience with alcohol sales
 
Alcohol will be available for purchase by the general public at Vanderbilt Stadium beginning Aug. 31, when the Commodores face Georgia in the 2019 football season opener. Proceeds from the sales will provide additional resources to invest in helping student-athletes succeed on and off the field, such as through facility enhancements and more.
