New committee to provide ongoing recommendations regarding university policing

Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos today announced the creation of the Community Oriented Result and Expectation (CORE) Committee—a group that primarily will comprise Vanderbilt University community members who will meet regularly to make recommendations to the university’s police department regarding safety and security on campus.

Engineering’s Greg Walker named ASME Fellow

Greg Walker has been selected to be a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for “exceptional engineering achievements and contributions to the engineering profession.”


 
 

Peabody professor named Emerging Leader by Nashville Chamber

Michelle Reising Scobey, assistant professor of the practice and co-director of the M.Ed. clinical psychological assessment program at Peabody College, has been given an Emerging Leader award by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Young Professionals Network of Nashville.


 
 

Eight engineering graduate students receive NSF research fellowships

Eight entering engineering graduate students have received research fellowships from the National Science Foundation, as did two Vanderbilt engineering undergraduate students who are pursuing their graduate studies elsewhere.
