Clark Charitable Foundation makes $15M gift to establish Clark Scholars Program

A visionary $15 million gift from the Clark Charitable Foundation to Vanderbilt University will establish the Clark Scholars Program at the School of Engineering.


 
 

Vanderbilt, peer institutions continue opposition of travel ban, file new amicus brief

Vanderbilt and 30 of the nation’s other top universities have filed a joint amicus brief urging that the U.S. District Court’s preliminary injunction against portions of the latest executive order regarding immigration and refugees be upheld.


 
 

Arts and Science names divisional dean of humanities

The College of Arts and Science has announced the appointment of Bonnie J. Dow, professor of communication studies and chair of the department, as the divisional dean of humanities.


 
 

Three students named Goldwater Scholars for 2017

Vanderbilt students Lauren Branscombe, Joshua Fleck and David Zhang have been recognized in this year’s Goldwater Scholars competition. They are among a group of 240 scholars selected on the basis of academic merit from a field of 1,286 mathematics, science and engineering students nationwide.


 
 

SkyVU leaders update community on project, provide training timeline

More than 250 faculty and staff participated in the third town hall meeting April 4 to learn about the progress of SkyVU, the new cloud-based Oracle solution that will provide support for many of the university’s financial, administrative and research support systems effective Jan. 1, 2018.

Coach Carolyn Peck is paying it forward

Vanderbilt Associate Women’s Basketball Coach Carolyn Peck, who in 1999 became the first African American head coach (at Purdue) to win the NCAA women’s basketball title, was an influence on South Carolina Coach Dawn Staley, who last weekend became the second African American coach to win the title. Vanderbilt Athletics talked with Peck about that relationship.

Final spring open forum on mental health, well-being to be held April 12

The Chancellor’s Strategic Planning Committee on Mental Health and Wellbeing invites staff, faculty, undergraduates and graduate and professional students to share their thoughts at a town hall-style listening session Wednesday, April 12, focusing on how the university can create a holistic and inclusive approach to supporting mental health and well-being at Vanderbilt.
