Professional Development
Partner Institutions
Each year, typically during the spring semester, the CFT will organize two Partner Institution cohorts. Each cohort will visit two partner colleges and universities in the region, one public and one private. During the visits, participants will observe faculty teaching and interview faculty from their respective departments about the faculty's roles and responsibilities in the university. Refer to the Sample Questionnaire for Faculty Interviews to focus discussion with the faculty.
In the F2P2 notebook, include both the interview
questions and responses. After completing both visits and
discussing them with the cohort, participants will write a
reflective essay summarizing what they have learned during
the partner institution visits. See the Guidelines for Essay on Partner Institution Visits for more information.
In previous years, cohorts have visited Belmont University, David Lipscomb University, Fisk University, Sewanee: The University of the South, University of Tennessee-Knoxville, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Tennessee State University, Middle Tennessee State University, and Tennessee Tech University. Information about this year's visits will be posted on the F2P2 listserv and specific details will be arranged within each cohort.
*If you are unable to attend both Partner Institution visits, you can substitute one Partner Institution visit with a visit you have made to a university for an academic interview or conference. Note that our substitute visit must correspond with the visit that you missed as part of the cohort, i.e., public or private. During your own visit, you should meet with administrators and faculty members to gather the information you need to write the Partner Institution Visit Essay.
