An event to honor winners of university- or school-based teaching awards and Teaching Certificate graduates

Please join us for this event as the Vanderbilt community celebrates the part of our culture that practices, values, and rewards university teaching and learning as vital forms of scholarship.

The Celebration of Teaching will pay particular honor to two groups: those who have won university- or school-based teaching awards in the past year, and the graduates from the Center for Teaching's Teaching Certificate program.

PROGRAM

Opening remarks by Provost Richard McCarty will begin at 4 p.m. Nancy Lea Hyer, associate professor at the Owen Graduate School of Management and this year’s winner of the Executive M.B.A. Award for Teaching Excellence, will follow by sharing her reflections on teaching. The program will conclude with Chris Paris, a doctoral candidate in the graduate Department of Religion and a 2009 teaching certificate graduate, providing an overview of his finishing project and with the awarding of the teaching certificates. A reception will follow.
